Yum! Banana rum sauce!
Looking for something quick, delicious and elegant to satisfy your sweet tooth? Try my banana rum sauce. It pairs well with ice cream — or you can use mad science to create your own perfect pairings.
BANANA RUM SAUCE RECIPE
Get your pyro on — then cool down with this banana rum sauce over ice cream!
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup lemon juice
2 tablespoons orange juice
1/2 cup rum
Melt butter. Add sugar and cook, stirring, until melted. Add cinnamon, orange and lemon juices. Cook one minute. Add chopped bananas — as many as you think you want. In a separate pan, warm the rum, ignite (be careful!) and then pour into sauce. In case you don’t have an audience for your pyrotechnics, this makes about 2 cups of sauce that can be saved, warmed and poured over ice cream and new bananas as long as it lasts.
